GEE Group is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety professional to own EHS activities at a manufacturing site in Ohio. The role combines hands-on field work with program development, compliance oversight, training, and employee engagement to create a strong safety culture.

The ideal candidate has EHS leadership experience, strong OSHA knowledge, and familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. You will lead audits, training, and incident investigations while coordinating site-wide

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Several years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience supervising or leading EHS programs or personnel.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Experience developing and delivering employee safety training.

  • Establish, maintain, and improve EHS policies, procedures, programs, and standards.
  • Monitor operations for compliance with OSHA, NFPA, environmental and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and assessments to reduce risk and improve performance.
  • Build employee participation in safety initiatives and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Oversee environmental compliance activities, including permits, records, and reporting.
  • Coordinate EHS communications, metrics, documentation, and reporting for site leadership.
  • Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and environmental events with root-cause analysis.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety professional to take ownership of EHS activities at a manufacturing site. This position will play a key leadership role in maintaining regulatory compliance, strengthening employee safety, improving environmental performance, and building a workplace where safe operating practices are part of the everyday culture.

The ideal candidate brings previous EHS leadership or management experience and is comfortable balancing hands-on field involvement with program development, compliance oversight, training, and employee engagement.

What You'll Do
  • Direct the daily administration and execution of site-wide environmental, health, and safety initiatives.
  • Establish, maintain, and improve EHS policies, procedures, programs, and standards.
  • Monitor operations for compliance with applicable OSHA, NFPA, environmental, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct facility inspections, audits, and assessments while identifying opportunities to reduce risk and improve performance.
  • Build employee participation in safety initiatives and help develop a proactive, accountability-driven safety culture.
  • Oversee environmental compliance activities, including applicable permits, records, reporting, and regulatory obligations.
  • Coordinate EHS communications, metrics, documentation, and reporting for site leadership.
  • Support the site's ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training for employees and contractors.
  • Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and environmental events, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are completed.
  • Manage contractor safety requirements, onboarding, and ongoing compliance.
  • Provide leadership for the site's safety committee/council and related improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate employee health and workplace safety programs.
  • Maintain the site's emergency preparedness and response program, including drills, exercises, procedures, and training.
  • Partner with operations and leadership to identify hazards, reduce exposure, and continuously improve site performance.
  • Promote a respectful, professional workplace where employees understand their role in maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible operation.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Several years of progressive EHS experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience supervising, managing, or leading EHS programs or personnel.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience with safety audits, incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action programs.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Experience developing and delivering employee safety training.
  • Title 5, RCRA, EPA Regulations, Stormwater, emissions, etc. We would like someone more Environmental vs Health and Safety.
