We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety leader to oversee and continuously improve safety and environmental programs within a multi-site manufacturing environment. This individual will provide strategic and hands-on leadership in regulatory compliance, workplace safety, risk reduction, employee training, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will partner closely with operational leaders to strengthen safety culture and ensure effective EHS practices across the organization.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to EHS professionals and may coordinate with external safety and environmental resources as needed.
What You Will Do
- Provide leadership for environmental, health, and safety programs across multiple operating locations.
- Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Serve as a key organizational resource during regulatory reviews, audits, and inspections.
- Establish and maintain appropriate EHS policies, procedures, documentation, and reporting practices.
- Monitor changes in EHS regulations and recommend appropriate updates to organizational practices.
Safety & Risk Management
- Identify workplace hazards and develop practical solutions to reduce employee and organizational risk.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
- Support injury prevention, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work initiatives.
- Track safety and environmental performance and identify opportunities for measurable improvement.
- Partner with operational teams to promote safe work practices and strengthen accountability.
- Develop and support EHS training programs that build employee awareness and reinforce safe workplace behaviors.
- Evaluate EHS processes and recommend improvements that strengthen compliance, consistency, and overall effectiveness.
- Use performance data and trends to identify opportunities for proactive safety initiatives.
- Support the implementation and ongoing use of EHS management systems and learning tools.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Operations and other business leaders to integrate EHS considerations into day-to-day activities and long-term planning.
- Provide technical guidance and consultation to leaders and employees regarding safety, environmental, and regulatory matters.
- Collaborate with external partners, service providers, and regulatory representatives as needed.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives that support organizational safety, compliance, and continuous improvement goals.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 7+ years of progressive EHS experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience supporting EHS programs across multiple locations or complex operating environments.
- Strong working knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations and compliance practices.
- Experience with incident investigation, risk assessment, corrective action planning, and safety performance measurement.
- Working knowledge of workers’ compensation and return-to-work practices.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence employees and leaders at multiple levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and familiarity with EHS management systems or related technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional EHS certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or a comparable credential.
Physical & Work Environment
- Ability to work within both office and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods and occasionally bend, crouch, or lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work safely in manufacturing environments that may include elevated noise levels.
- Ability to travel between company locations and occasionally to external partner or vendor locations as business needs require.
