Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Supervisor of Environmental Services to lead day-to-day operations for Buildings & Grounds and Waste Management on the Manhattan campus. Responsibilities include staffing, scheduling, performance management, and ensuring compliance with standards and contracts.

You will oversee cleaning operations, vendor performance, and continuous improvement initiatives, with on-call duties and emergency response leadership as part of a weekly rotation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Three years of Environmental Services experience.
• Three years in a supervisory capacity; or six years of progressively responsible related experience.
• Experience in hospital cleaning operations, including Article 28 facilities, ambulatory care centers, research laboratories, schools, administrative offices, and clinical environments.
• Experience managing cleaning vendors and service contracts preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills; proficiency with work-order and operations systems.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Buildings & Grounds and Waste Management personnel, including staffing, scheduling, attendance, payroll, training, coaching, performance management, and employee development.
• Oversee daily Environmental Services operations, ensuring high-quality cleaning and window-cleaning services.
• Manage vendor accounts and contracted services, monitoring service quality, performance, responsiveness, and compliance; conduct reviews and ensure corrective action.
• Maintain cleaning and window-cleaning specifications and conduct Quality Assurance inspections.
• Build relationships with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders; respond to service concerns and coordinate requests.
• Review vendor invoices, resolve discrepancies, and process payments; support budget, inventory, and equipment management.
• Plan and manage staffing and operational coverage; adjust schedules to meet needs.
• Develop and implement programs and procedures; respond to maintenance requests via Maintenance Connection.
• Lead operational response to emergencies and severe weather events; coordinate staffing, vendors, and resources.
• Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for leadership and operational support.
• Promote accountability, teamwork, customer service, safety, and continuous improvement while ensuring regulatory compliance.
