Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Trainer, Environmental Support to join the Environmental Services team. This full-time day position trains Environmental Service Workers and Transporters on cleaning procedures and service standards, ensuring a positive patient experience across all shifts.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to mentor staff while maintaining hospital cleanliness and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• 1–2 years of experience in cleaning/Environmental Services.
• Excellent customer-service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to train Environmental Service Workers and Transporters.
• Available to train on all shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide staff guidance and training for new roles.
• Act as a role model while supporting hospital service standards through training.
• Promote customer service and a positive patient experience using AIDET.
• Shadow and retrain staff as needed.
• Support service standards by presenting at new employee orientation.
• Obtain cleaning equipment and ensure supplies are stocked and cart is organized.
• Follow 7 Step Cleaning Procedure in vacated patient areas and ensure linen is clean and neat.
