Environmental Services Manager 1 (NOC shift)

Job Summary

The Manager of Environmental Services (EVS) is responsible for managing custodial operations, ensuring staff compliance with healthcare quality and safety standards, and following established processes and procedures. As part of the EVS Leadership team, the Manager plans, organizes, and directs custodial operations to provide a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The Manager leads staff to foster a professional environment through interdisciplinary collaboration, supporting autonomy, accountability, ongoing staff education, and a culture prioritizing patient care.

The Manager receives objectives and determines resource allocation to meet goals. They recommend policy changes, establish procedures, and spend over 50% of their time achieving organizational objectives through staff. They set departmental goals, manage human, financial, and physical resources, and ensure adherence to internal controls and asset protection systems.

Qualifications
  • Valid California driver's license, compliant driving record, and enrollment in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in Hospitality, Environmental Services, Custodial, or relevant areas, including two years in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge of healthcare custodial standards, biohazardous waste policies.
  • Experience in human resources management, staff development, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare environmental principles and technologies.
  • Empathetic approach towards patients and staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CHESP Certification.
  • Leadership experience in healthcare or large hospital settings.
Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership, service delivery, and program implementation.
Department Overview

The EVS department handles housekeeping in all UC Davis Health facilities.

Position Details
  • Salary: $6,250 - $11,300/month
  • Location: Main Hospital, shift from 10:00PM – 7:00AM
  • Type: Full-time, 100% on-site
