Environmental Services Manager 1 (NOC shift)

The Manager of Environmental Services (EVS) is responsible for managing custodial operations, ensuring staff compliance with healthcare quality and safety standards, and established processes and procedures. As part of the EVS Leadership team, the Manager plans, organizes, and directs custodial operations to provide a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The Manager leads staff to foster a professional environment by encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, supporting autonomy and accountability, providing staff training and education, and emphasizing continuous learning and patient-centered care.

The Manager receives objectives and determines resource allocation to meet goals. They recommend policy changes and establish procedures affecting the department. They spend over 50% of their time achieving organizational objectives through staff coordination. They set departmental goals, operate with autonomy, and manage human, financial, and physical resources in line with organizational goals. They ensure compliance with internal controls and manage systems to protect departmental assets.

Qualifications
  • Valid California driver's license, compliant driving record, and enrollment in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.
  • At least five years of experience in Hospitality Services, Environmental Services, Custodial, or related areas, including two years in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge of healthcare custodial regulatory standards, codes, and policies on biohazardous and hazardous waste.
  • Experience in human resources management and staff development.
  • Ability to develop and implement health and safety training programs.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of environmental or hospitality principles in a clinical setting.
  • Empathetic demeanor towards patients and staff.
  • Awareness of healthcare practices and technologies relevant to environmental services.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Health Care Environmental Services Professional (CHESP).
  • Leadership experience in hospital or healthcare environments, preferably in academic medical centers or large hospitals.

Department Overview

The EVS Department handles housekeeping in all UC Davis Health facilities.

Position Details
  • Salary Range: $6,250 - $11,300/month
  • Location: Main Hospital (HSP001)
  • Shift: 10:00PM – 7:00AM
  • Full-time, on-site position.
