Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking an HR Coordinator/HR Associate to support Environmental Services by delivering guidance to leadership and staff, handling HR transactions, recruitment, onboarding, payroll and compliance in a fast-paced environment.

You will collaborate with HR leaders to ensure accurate job descriptions, classification, timekeeping, leave administration and adherence to policies and union contracts, while promoting efficient service delivery and staff engagement in

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HRM or business administration or related field, or equivalent combination.
• Minimum 1 year HR experience; strong communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of state and federal HR regulations and union contracts.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment activities for P&S, SEIU, and merit positions and support hiring processes.
• Assist with job descriptions, classification, staffing strategy, and onboarding processes.
• Serve as ELMS/payroll liaison and assist departments with daily payroll needs.
• Review timecards for compliance with FLSA and university policies; identify leave qualify as FMLA.
• Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to staff and leadership.
• Run HR reports, ensure compliance, and address outstanding requirements with divisions.
• Collaborate with HR leadership and immigration services to verify visa and immigration documents.
