Job summary

The Brigham and Women’s Hospital, located at 15 Francis Street, is seeking an Environmental Services Attendant to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the hospital environment. This onsite role covers a 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM shift with 40 hours per week and rotating weekends/holidays.

Requirements include a high school diploma (preferred) and 2–3 years’ experience with hospital cleaning equipment and chemicals. Strong organizational, teamwork, and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Sweeps, mops, waxes, strips, and polishes floors; vacuuming and carpet care.
  • Dusts and polishes furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Cleans restrooms and fixtures; replenishes supplies.
  • Operates cleaning machines and maintains clean facilities.
  • Set up spaces for events and activities; report maintenance needs.
  • Rotate with weekends and holidays as required.

Essential Functions
  • Sweeps, mops, waxes, strips, and polishes floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
  • Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, door panels, windows, sills, blinds, and door glass.
  • Empties, cleans, and sanitizes waste receptacles in assigned areas.
  • Cleans and sanitizes restroom facilities and fixtures as assigned including sinks, urinals, toilets, mirrors, walls and drinking fountains; replenish restroom supplies as needed.
  • Picks up debris around building.
  • Operates and controls high and low speed stripping/buffing machines.
  • Sets up tables, chairs, and equipment in a variety of settings for special events and normal hospital activities.
  • Identifies and reports building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities.
