Job summary

BFW/Marcum is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to perform Phase I and Phase II ESAs and support permitting across Paducah, KY and St. Louis, MO. You will work independently on complex assessments and build client relationships as a trusted technical resource.

The role requires 5-10 years of Phase I/II experience, knowledge of federal and state regulations, and willingness to travel to project sites in Kentucky and Missouri.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of environmental consulting or related professional experience
• Experience conducting Phase I ESAs and Phase II investigations
• Working knowledge of environmental sampling, technical reporting, and applicable federal and state environmental regulations
• Experience with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance processes preferred
• NEPA experience preferred
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites across Kentucky and Missouri

Responsibilities

• Phase I and Phase II Projects – Independently conduct Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with ASTM standards and conduct Phase II investigations from planning through reporting.
• Environmental Sampling & Data Evaluation – Perform soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment sampling; analyze results to assess environmental conditions and develop recommendations that inform project decisions.
• Permitting & Regulatory Compliance – Research applicable environmental requirements; prepare permit applications and compliance documentation; support agency coordination, audits, and inspections.
• Technical Reporting & Communication – Prepare environmental reports, agency correspondence, and technical deliverables for clients, regulators, and project teams.
• Project & Technical Support – Review project plans for environmental requirements, perform QA/QC of technical deliverables, and support Project Managers with scopes, schedules, budgets, and proposals.
