Job summary

WithersRavenel is seeking an Environmental Scientist I to join our team in the United States. The role focuses on conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, performing fieldwork, and supporting project tasks in accordance with regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of ESA experience, strong technical writing skills, and the ability to work both in the field and office, travel as needed, and ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field required.
• 1+ year of environmental fieldwork experience preferred (internships, co-ops, orVolunteering accepted).
• 1-3 years of Phase I/II ESA experience with ASTM standards knowledge.
• Experience in soil and groundwater sampling techniques and monitoring equipment.
• Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform Phase I ESAs including site inspections, historical research, and regulatory reviews.
• Conduct Phase II ESAs with soil, groundwater, surface water, and vapor intrusion sampling; oversee subs contractor drilling.
• Calibrate and maintain field instruments to ensure data accuracy.
• Oversee and document remediation and mitigation activities as needed.
• Prepare field notes, chain-of-custody forms, and site photographs.
• Travel to project sites as needed, including overnight stays.
• Analyze and interpret environmental data to support decisions and compliance.
• Prepare technical reports for Phase I/II ESA documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
• Communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
