Job summary

Cherry Creek School District is seeking an Environmental Specialist to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations across district facilities, laboratories, and classrooms. You will identify hazards and implement procedures to prevent hazards, promoting safe and healthy environments for occupants and visitors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• AHERA Building Inspector/Management Planner certification.
• OSHA 40 Hour Hazardous Materials Training certification.
• Confined Space Training within 6 months of hire.
• Stormwater inspection and maintenance certification.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Proficient use of Google Drive & Google Docs.
• Knowledge of science safety protocols and regulations.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations.
• Strong understanding of building systems and construction drawings.

Responsibilities

• Research, understand, and interpret new and existing regulations; develop compliant programs.
• Evaluate environmental hazards from stakeholders and coordinate responses.
• Manage AHERA program, including abatements, plans, and inspections.
• Oversee science safety and chemical hygiene programs for schools.
• Investigate IAQ concerns; monitor radon and coordinate mitigation.
• Maintain MS4 permit compliance and site inspections.
• Oversee district snow removal operations.
• Develop site safety protocols and conduct safety audits.
• Manage chemical waste programs and sustainable disposal options.
• Manage confined space program and staff training.
• Collaborate with health departments and internal teams for inspections.
• Ensure compliance with drinking water lead regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
