Job summary

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Land Restoration, Office of Special Reclamation, is seeking an Environmental Resources Specialist 1 for Charleston, WV. You will work under supervision on technical duties within designated counties and support water treatment facility operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• OREqual substitution: full-time or equivalent part-time paid technical or paraprofessional experience may substitute for the required training at 1 year per 30 semester hours.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain highly technical water treatment facilities.
• Obtain knowledge to master several operating systems within facilities to meet discharge limits.
• Collect data and prepare statistical/narrative reports relating to facility operations and watershed plans.
• Communicate effectively with watershed groups, officials, and the public.
• Conduct field watershed inspections to identify pollution sources and assess environmental impact.
