Job summary

West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection is seeking an Environmental Resources Specialist 1 to support the AML program in the Fayetteville area. The role involves field investigations, data collection, and reporting within the Division of Land Restoration; Abandoned Mine Lands Program/Construction.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; substitutions are allowed under policy.

Qualifications

Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
OR: Full-time or equivalent part-time paid technical or paraprofessional experience in environmental resources may substitute for the required training.
Promotional Only: Two years as an Environmental Resources Associate may substitute for the required training.
Note: Appointing agency may provide probationary appointment pending verification of training or certification.

Responsibilities

Monitor and conduct field investigations of AML reclamation projects performed by contractors.
Collect and review technical data related to environmental resources and assist in preparing detailed findings.
Take photographs of reclamation sites and analyze data in the assignment area.
Perform other related duties as required.
