Job Description

Our Reno, NV laboratory is looking for a Project Manager I to join their team! A Project Manager I is a key member of the Client Services Team, serving as a client advocate and laboratory liaison. The Project Manager I is expected to build strong working relationships with our clients and technical staff. This role is responsible for guiding successful, on-time completion of the clients' projects, beginning with the first contact (e.g., request for quote, bottle kits, etc.), through laboratory processes (analytical details, status, etc.), to final deliverables and invoicing. The Project Manager I will work within a team of Project Manager Assistants and other Project Managers. This role manages a portfolio of clients with lower complexities and/or annual analytical spend. The Project Manager I will familiarize themselves with project complexities and develop a working knowledge of ongoing projects within their group, offering assistance to the Client Services team. Additionally, they will be responsible for training and delegating tasks to Project Manager Assistants.

Job Functions
  1. Act as the main point of contact/client services representative for a dedicated list of clients with lower complexities and/or annual analytical spend.
  2. Assist clients with all aspects of project setup, including initial quotes, supply orders, sample receipt, data reporting, and invoicing.
  3. Foster collaborative relationships with clients, laboratory operations, and sales teams to support long-term, successful relationships. Staff and client meetings are vital for relaying project information.
  4. Serve as the client liaison to the laboratory to ensure projects are carried out in the best interest of both the client and laboratory operations to meet TAT deadlines.
  5. Keep all accounts updated and accurate through project management tools.
  6. Monitor project status and provide regular updates through proactive communication to clients, lab operations, and sales teams.
  7. Understand all aspects of client projects, including rationale, regulations (e.g., NPDES, SW-846), and methods employed by the client and lab.
  8. Document and execute client requests such as bottle orders, sample tracking, LIMS login, change orders, etc.
  9. Review project data and invoicing for accuracy before sending final reports to clients.
  10. Participate in offsite and virtual client meetings as coordinated with the Sales team.
  11. Promote a positive working atmosphere and represent SGS positively inside and outside the laboratory.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned to support SGS's mission of quality, service, and growth.
Qualifications
  • Associates' degree or equivalent industry experience with 1-2 years of relevant experience in sciences and/or customer service (Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field with 2-3 years of experience as a Project Manager Assistant (Preferred)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (Required)

  • Advanced English language skills (Required)
  • Advanced mathematical and reasoning skills (Required)
  • Advanced computer skills (Required)
  • Excellent attention to detail (Required)
