Job summary

Florida Department of Health seeks an Environmental Supervisor I - SES to lead the Onsite Sewage Program staff across multiple counties, combining supervision, field inspections, and program compliance to protect public health.

The incumbent will hire, train, evaluate staff, manage performance, coordinate inspections, and ensure adherence to FAC/FS regulations while serving as a backup to the EPH Manager. Requires a bachelor’s in environmental science and Florida certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with major in Environmental Health/Environmental Science or physical/biological science.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License or able to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Current onsite sewage certification.
• Able to lift 65 lbs and work outside.
• Currently employed in DOH as CS/SES/SMS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff; hire, train, and evaluate subordinate employees.
• Develop performance expectations; conduct regular performance reviews.
• Review inspection records; supervise field work and inspections.
• Coordinate Onsite Sewage Program activities; standardize inspectors; back up EPH Manager.
