Job summary

Civicworks seeks an Environmental Supervisor I to lead the Department of Health’s Onsite Sewage Program. The role includes supervising field inspection staff, coordinating program implementation countywide, and acting as a working supervisor with hiring and disciplinary authority.

The incumbent reviews inspection records, coordinates enforcement activities, ensures regulatory compliance, and may back up the Environmental Public Health Manager as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, or physical/biological science (min 30 semester hours in Chemistry, Biology).
• Current onsite sewage certification.
• Ability to supervise people and manage staff performance.
• Ability to lift/pull 65 lbs and work outdoors.
• Current DOH employee in CS/SES/SMS position (internal posting).

Responsibilities

• Supervise field inspection staff and countywide program implementation.
• Conduct field inspections as needed and serve as a working supervisor with hiring and disciplinary authority.
• Review inspection records and coordinate enforcement activities.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and may back up Environmental Public Health Manager.
