Job summary

State of Missouri seeks a self-motivated Lead License Program Inspector to conduct onsite inspections of lead abatement projects and ensure licensure compliance across the state. You will support safe abatement practices and protect Missouri citizens from lead hazards.

The role includes reviewing training provider applications, coordinating with EPA HUD programs, and assisting with regulatory updates while statewide travel is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Public Health, or related field.
  • 2+ years in environmental health, preferably compliance/enforcement.
  • Ability to obtain MO Lead Risk Assessor and Lead Abatement licenses.
  • Knowledge of basic research methods, analytics, and statistics software.
  • Ability to perform field inspections and travel statewide with a valid driver's license.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain databases and perform basic data queries/analysis.
  • Adhere to professionalism policies.
  • Moderate physical effort including driving, stairs, and outdoor terrain.

Responsibilities

Job Location: This position will be located at 920 Wildwood Dr., Jefferson City, MO.

The Lead License Program is seeking a self-motivated individual who can understand, interpret, and apply regulatory enforcement and compliance requirements. This position is responsible for conducting inspections of lead abatement projects across the state of Missouri. The position will ensure that individuals performing lead abatement are properly licensed and operating in compliance with Missouri statutes and regulations. The goal of this role is to support safe abatement practices and protect Missouri citizens from the dangers of lead exposure and lead poisoning.

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

Responsibilities
  • Perform onsite inspections of lead abatement projects and records audits of lead abatement professionals and training providers;
  • Monitor lead abatement projects throughout the State; Issue warnings and violations to lead abatement professionals when appropriate;
  • Answer technical questions from lead abatement professional and the public regarding lead abatement, lead licensing, lead trainings throughout the State of Missouri;
  • Cooperate and coordinate with EPA Region 7, HUD Lead Grant Programs throughout Missouri, other state lead programs, and industry professionals to help promote lead safe work practices;
  • Review submissions of accredited training provider applications;
  • Review course materials as needed for accreditation/reaccreditation in a timely manner;
  • Develop and share education materials through outreach activities to raise awareness of the dangers associated with lead poisoning and working with lead hazards;
  • Work with the Program to review and update regulation as required;
  • Assist as backup to review and process occupational license applications.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Physical Science, Public Health, or a closely related field. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
  • Two or more years experience in environmental health, perferrably compliance/enforcement. bility to obtain a valid Misouri Lead Risk Assessor License and Lead Abatement Supervisor license.
  • Knowledge of basic research methods and analysis, computer information systems, and statistical software.
  • Ability to perform field inspections.
  • Knowledge of residential construction practices and remodeling techniques prefered.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain and operate databases, and an ability to perform basic queries and analysis of data.
  • Ability to travel within and out of state, including occasional overnight stays. Valid driver's license required.
  • Adhere to Department's policys of professionalism.
  • Moderate physical effort and mobility is required, i.e. driving vehicles, climbing stairs, negotiating outdoor terrian, walking/standing for hours at a time and frequent stooping/bending.
