Job summary

Apex Companies seeks an Environmental Principal Engineer to lead the Pittsburgh Metro office, building a strong team of engineers and project managers while expanding our national client network.

You will drive site assessments, remediation, permitting, and compliance projects with expert leadership and strategic business development. A 4-year degree and 15+ years of relevant experience are required, with professional certification preferred.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related science.
• Professional certification strongly desired (e.g. PG, LSRP, PE).
• 15+ years of progressive and successful experience managing environmental investigation, remediation, permitting, or compliance projects.
• Proven experience in managing both technical staff and project managers while developing client relationships.
• Proficiency in applicable regulations and guidance (PADEP, NJDEP, NYSEC, EPA etc.).

Responsibilities

• Assist in establishing, managing, and growing a new branch office with division and regional support.
• Help recruit, build, and manage a team of technical staff to support office operations and project execution.
• Develop and implement strategies for recruiting new clients and expanding business opportunities.
• Lead project management for Site Assessments & Remediation, Emergency Response, Natural Resources, EHS & compliance, Permitting, Planning & Management or Reporting Assurance Services.
• Mentor junior engineers and design staff.
• Serve as primary contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Participate in internal and external technical organizations.
