Actalent is seeking an Environmental Permitting Specialist to join a multi-disciplinary team. You will conduct due diligence and coordinate with regulators to secure permits aligned with construction timelines, supporting project teams and clients.

The role emphasizes handling Phase I/II assessments, regulatory interactions, and meticulous documentation using MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and ArcGIS Pro, with occasional fieldwork in Topeka, KS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (environmental science, geology, geography, civil or environmental engineering, wildlife biology)
• 1–2 years of experience in environmental permitting or regulatory compliance
• Experience with environmental and construction permitting and regulator interaction
• Strong understanding of environmental science and regulatory compliance principles
• Project management capabilities for permitting activities and timelines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment

Responsibilities

• Conduct due diligence reviews including wetlands evaluations, Phase I/II ESAs, biological assessments, and related studies
• Identify required permits by reviewing project scope with regulators
• Coordinate with regulators to understand permitting pathways, timelines, and compliance expectations
• Gather, validate, and organize technical/administrative information for permit applications
• Prepare, submit, and track permit applications to align with construction schedules
• Support project management activities by tracking milestones and communicating updates
• Collaborate with environmental scientists, engineers, and professionals to integrate permitting requirements
• Communicate complex permitting/regulatory information clearly in reports and presentations
