Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is seeking an experienced Section Manager Environmental to lead the environmental department at United Taconite in Forbes, MN.

The role focuses on ensuring permit compliance, reporting, and guidance on regulatory requirements for Minnesota mining operations. The successful candidate will manage environmental staff, oversee budget, and interact with site leadership to drive continuous compliance and performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or environmental discipline is required.
• Familiarity with operation and compliance related to industrial air emission control and water treatment systems.
• Expertise in analyzing and interpreting environmental regulations' impact on facilities.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee environmental permit application development for new or modified equipment or processes and ensure consistency amongst sites.
• Assist in air emission modeling development and permitting strategies for strategic air permits.
• Assist with NPDES/State water permitting strategies to address evolving regulations.
• Evaluate projects for permitting implications.
• Evaluate environmental review obligations and assist with EAW/EIS studies if required.
• Establish relationships with regulatory agencies to facilitate permit review and approval.
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal teams, regulatory agencies, and local communities.
• Communicate environmental performance for the site.
• Conduct site environmental assessments and identify risks and liabilities.
• Represent the company in regulatory meetings and hearings.
• Develop and oversee the site environmental budget.
• Manage professional development for direct reports.
• All additional responsibilities as assigned.
