Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs in Forbes, MN, seeks an experienced Program Manager Environmental Permitting & Regulatory to lead permitting and regulatory initiatives for mining and pelletizing operations in Northern Minnesota and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

You will coordinate with site environmental managers, oversee permit applications, monitor evolving regulations, and advocate for sound policy with regulators and trade associations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or environmental discipline.
• Experience preparing and submitting environmental permit applications and other compliance documentation.
• Ability to analyze and interpret environmental regulations and assess impact on facilities.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee environmental permit applications and ensure consistency among sites.
• Develop procedures for reclamation activities and track financial assurances.
• Monitor evolving environmental regulations and advise site managers.
• Advise Environmental Director and manage risk registries for permitting and compliance.
• Conduct site environmental assessments and identify risks and liabilities.
• Evaluate projects against NEPA/MEPA and manage EAW/EIS studies if required.
• Build relationships with regulators, stakeholders, and industry associations.
