Job summary

Republic Services seeks an Environmental Manager to oversee budget preparation for the Engineering department and ensure regulatory compliance at landfill operations. This role includes supervising staff, managing permit processes, and coordinating with regulators, vendors, and investors.

The position requires 5 years of landfill engineering or environmental compliance experience, strong communication and project-management skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of environmental regulations relating to air, water, solid waste, and material recovery/recycling.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal communication across organizational levels and with external parties.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on adding value to the Company.
• Effective project management and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, journals, technical procedures, and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction projects for Landfill cells and sites, including capacity calculations and scheduling.
• Maintain financial responsibility for construction/cell development and cost tracking.
• Coordinate permit applications, regulatory interfaces, and site expansion plans.
• Prepare responses to regulatory inspections and notices.
• Assist in developing fill sequencing plans with Landfill and Site Managers.
• Review acquisitions, perform Phase I assessments, and support pro-forma modeling.
• Engage with regulators, consultants, and investors to communicate updates and compliance.
• Complete soil tracking and status reports monthly.
• Supervise Environmental Technicians and Specialists, including hiring, training, and performance reviews.
• Attend regulatory and association informational meetings.
• Ensure compliance via monitoring and reporting of air, water, and other environmental data.
• Other duties as assigned.
