Job summary

Republic Services, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Manager to oversee landfill compliance, budgets, and engineering staff at our Phoenix-area sites.

You will manage the Landfill budget, supervise technicians, and coordinate permit applications and regulatory reporting. The role demands strong knowledge of air, water, solid waste regulations, project management, and the ability to communicate with regulators, vendors, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• 5 years of landfill engineering or environmental compliance experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to read and interpret regulatory documents.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction projects for landfill cells and sites, including capacity, scheduling, and resources.
• Maintain financial responsibility for construction, closure/post-closure, engineering, operations, and cost tracking.
• Coordinate permit applications and designs with regulatory interfaces.
• Prepare responses to regulatory inspections.
• Assist development of fill sequencing plans.
• Participate in acquisitions reviews with Phase I surveys and pro-forma modeling.
• Engage with regulators, consultants, and investors for due diligence.
• Complete monthly soil tracking and status reports.
• Supervise Environmental Technicians and Specialists and manage performance.
• Attend regulatory and association informational meetings.
• Ensure compliance through monitoring and reporting.
• Other duties as assigned.
