We are looking for an Environmental Manager to join our NAF team in Freeport, TX.

We are seeking exceptional candidates for an EHS (Environmental) Manager to supervise environmental professionals and be responsible for the overall management and coordination of EHS (environmental) compliance at the Hub/Site level. This position ensures adherence to EHS laws, regulations, and BASF Corporation requirements through the shared services concept. Located in Freeport, Texas, the site is a multi-business integrated chemical production facility with approximately 1,500 employees and contractors. Additionally, this role supervises environmental professionals across eight other BASF sites in Texas and interacts with EHS experts supporting all BASF North American sites and businesses.

As an Environmental Manager, you will...
  • Provide leadership and direct support to coordinate and implement environmental programs, projects, and compliance activities at Freeport and other sites.
  • Support BASF Responsible Care Management Systems, including the implementation of standardized EHS processes and participation in management system reviews.
  • Participate in the BASF North America extended environmental expert team and represent BASF at quarterly Baker Botts Texas Industry Project meetings.
  • Facilitate sharing of programs, procedures, tools, and best practices within the Texas EHS Hub and across BASF’s North American Region.
  • Collaborate with the BASF EHS Centers of Expertise to develop processes and initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Implement systems to monitor key performance indicators and adjust resources and programs in response to audits, inspections, and performance gaps.
  • Serve as Champion for the Freeport Environmental Compliance Engineer Team.
  • Supervise environmental staff to meet performance goals, facilitate staff development, and participate in performance calibrations.
  • Assist the EHS & S Director in building effective relationships with site management, employees, regulatory agencies, and the community.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies and stakeholders on compliance issues, leading enforcement actions and fostering a responsible community image.
  • Manage the Environmental On-Call program at the Freeport site, serving as a secondary on-call person 24/7.
If you...
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related field with 10+ years of environmental regulatory and technical experience in chemical or related industries, or 15+ years without a degree.
  • Have demonstrated experience with Title V permitting and EPA programs.
  • Are familiar with TPDES, RCRA, PSD, NSPS, MACT, LDAR, RMP, SARA, CERCLA/EPCRA regulations.
  • Possess Texas-specific environmental regulatory experience (preferred).
  • Can effectively interact with and influence leadership, officials, agencies, NGOs, and communities.
  • Are detail-oriented with excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills.
  • Exhibit leadership, coaching, strategic thinking, customer focus, innovation, and collaboration skills.
