Job summary

HF Sinclair in Dallas, Texas seeks an Environmental Counsel to support the legal department on litigation, environmental, health and safety matters and related duties. Provides guidance on litigation, discovery and EHS issues while interfacing with outside counsel and management.

Core responsibilities include managing general litigation and environmental matters, participating in depositions and trials, and advising on legal implications across departments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years experience as a litigator at a top tier law firm, public corporation or regulatory agency.
• Strong academic credentials and a stable work history.
• Reputation for high ethical standards and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Assists in managing a docket of general litigation and environmental related matters.
• Assists with discovery responsibilities on cases and matters working with other attorneys.
• Develops litigation strategy and supervises implementation of the strategy by attending depositions, hearings and trials.
• Assists with EHS matters and projects, including legal research related to EHS matters.
• Works closely cross-functionally to advise on legal implications of litigation and EHS matters.
• Plans and develops solutions to existing or potential legal problems, and advises management and employees concerning legal rights and obligations.
• Interfaces with, and manages, outside counsel on various litigation matters and EHS matters in an efficient and cost-effective manner as needed to compliment the internal legal resources.
• Participates in continuing legal education programs and other activities as necessary to keep informed of developments in the law, new and proposed statutes and regulations, economic and social issues and other matters of interest to the Company and the energy industry
