HF Sinclair in Dallas, Texas seeks an Environmental Counsel to support the legal department on litigation, environmental, health and safety matters and related duties. Provides guidance on litigation, discovery and EHS issues while interfacing with outside counsel and management.

Core responsibilities include managing general litigation and environmental matters, participating in depositions and trials, and advising on legal implications across departments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years experience as a litigator at a top tier law firm, public corporation or regulatory agency.
• Strong academic credentials and a stable work history.

Basic Function

HF Sinclair in Dallas, Tx is seeking a Environmental Counsel who will assist the legal department with litigation, environmental, health and safety (EHS) matters and with other duties as may be assigned from time to time. Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years experience as a litigator at a top tier law firm, public corporation or regulatory agency; Demonstrated litigation or regulatory work experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with litigation and administrative/judicial enforcement matters; experience as an EHS litigator is preferred
• Experience managing a large docket of cases and working with federal or state government agencies
• Knowledge of EHS statutes and regulations applicable to the petroleum refining industry
• Experience counseling business and operation managers on compliance with EHS laws and regulations.

• Minimum of a Jurisprudence Doctorate Degree from an American Bar Association accredited law schoolis required.

Required Skills

Advanced legal drafting and analytical skills; strong organizational skills, advanced reading and writing skills; strong interpersonal, problem solving, research and document review, and word-processing skills.Licensed and in good standing with a state bar is required (admission to the State Bar of Texas is strongly preferred). Ability to effectively communicate with others at all levels of the organization and outside counsel, both written and verbal communication. Strong public speaking skills along with presentation skills. Extremely responsive to a high volume of diverse requests. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, self-motivated, organized team player who works well in a high-energy and fast-paced environment. Cooperative and encourages collaboration and builds understanding; ability to find common ground and solve problems, and who owns their own projects and commitments.

Work Conditions

Office based with travel up to 20% by land and air required. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions. Petroleum refinery and out-of-doors environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, and rotating equipment.
