Job summary

Actalent in Calera, AL seeks an Environmental Specialist (Lab) to support QA/QC in an environmental test laboratory. You will assist with sample receipt, kit assembly, and documentation to ensure accurate analytical testing and regulatory compliance.

You will work safely, maintain attention to detail, and collaborate with project managers and lab sections to uphold the lab's quality management system. This contract role emphasizes timely, cost-effective services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, engineering, or a related scientific field is preferred.
• Completion of at least 15 semester credit hours in chemistry is strongly preferred.
• Prior laboratory experience, particularly in an environmental or analytical setting, is a plus.
• Experience with quality control requirements for analytical methods is preferred.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in handling samples, documentation, and data is required.

Responsibilities

• Work safely at all times and proactively identify unsafe working conditions, recommending and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Maintain strong attention to detail in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
• Assist quality control project managers with sample receipt and related tasks.
• Clean and prepare sample containers for accurate testing.
• Build complete and accurate sample kits for customers and maintain supplies.
• Maintain clear, professional communication with customers and co-workers.
