Job summary

TRC is seeking highly motivated Environmental Interns for our Summer 2027 intern program in Madison, WI. This paid full-time internship runs from June through August 2027 (flexible) and may transition into a full-time role after graduation.

The successful candidate will work under Project Managers and Team Leaders, collaborating with engineers, scientists and technologists on diverse projects and field tasks, including sampling and data management.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Solid technical and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented candidate.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with engineering software (AutoCAD, Mathcad, ESRI, Hydro Cad, Water Cad, ArcView GIS) preferred but not required.
• OSHA 40-hour or 30-hour training preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support project tasks including regulatory requirements/review estimates, research, procurement support.
• Perform data entry, data management, data evaluation, and data presentation.
• Field assistance with groundwater, soil, and vapor sampling; ecological risk assessments.
• Field work oversight such as soil excavation, remediation, and due diligence inspections.
• Perform engineering calculations and design assistance for government, commercial, and industrial properties.
• Perform other related duties as necessary.
