Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. seeks a motivated Environmental Intern for Summer 2027 at our Madison, WI office. This paid full-time internship will run June through August 2027, with potential to transition into a full-time role after graduation.

You will work with project managers, engineers and scientists on regulatory tasks, data management and field sampling, gaining hands-on experience in environmental consulting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Solid technical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Experience with engineering software applications (AutoCAD, Mathcad, ESRI, Hydro Cad, Water Cad, ArcView GIS, etc.) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support various project tasks including regulatory requirements/review estimates, research, procurement support, etc.
• Perform data entry, data management, data evaluation, and data presentation
• Field assistance with groundwater sampling, soil sampling, soil vapor sampling, ecological risk assessments etc.
• Field work oversight such as soil excavation, remediation, due diligence inspections, etc.
• Perform engineering calculations and design assistance for government, commercial, and industrial properties as needed.
