Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) invites environmental interns/co-ops to Findlay, Ohio, to work alongside professionals in refining, midstream crude oil, and natural gas segments. You’ll help interpret policies, develop programs, and assist with compliance while gaining hands-on experience.

Candidates must pursue a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science, be on site 40 hours/week, authorized to work in the United States, and able to lift

Qualifications

• Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
• Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree seeking program for the duration of the internship experience.
• Strong academic performance.
• Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
• Must be able to safely ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs and/or ladders, and lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license for work‑related travel.
• Must be able to provide reliable transportation to and from place of work.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
• Available for multiple work terms is preferred.
• MIN - $24.09 per hour / MAX - $43.23 per hour

Responsibilities

• Interpret and/or develop Company environmental policies and guidelines; and develop methods and procedures for implementing and assuring conformance.
• Provide guidance and technical assistance in organizing and establishing programs and procedures to implement and administer requirements, including budget inputs; and monitor compliance with these policies in assigned areas and direct related reports and recommendations to appropriate personnel.
• Design and/or review engineering designs and cost estimates for environmental equipment/systems; and/or determine engineering specifications and recommend equipment, as required.
• Identify and investigate current and developing environmental problems or issues to determine cause and contributory circumstances; initiate steps to prevent recurrences; and provide recommendations with appropriate personnel as well as communicating to senior management.
• Keep abreast of environmental legislation, regulatory agency actions, and international standards as well as related technological and administrative developments; develop/assist with legislative and regulatory impact assessment to ensure an appropriate response by the Company to governmental proposals; submit required reports; and obtain various permits as required.
• Develop environmental information, manuals, training material and programs; inform employees of related policies and procedures; and conduct appropriate training sessions.
