Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation invites environmental interns/co-ops to contribute to company facilities in Findlay, OH, and other listed sites. You will support environmental programs within the Refining, Midstream Crude Oil & Products Logistics, and Natural Gas segments, gaining exposure to HES&S topics.

Successful candidates are pursuing relevant bachelor's degrees, can work on-site full-time, and meet safety and transportation requirements. A strong academic record is essential.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
  • Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor's degree seeking program for the duration of the internship experience.
  • Strong academic performance.
  • Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
  • Must be able to safely ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs and/or ladders, and lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to provide reliable transportation to and from place of work.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Available for multiple work terms is preferred.
  • MIN - $24.09 per hour / MAX - $43.23 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and/or develop Company environmental policies and guidelines; develop methods and procedures for implementing and conformance.
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance in organizing and establishing programs and procedures to implement and administer requirements, including budget inputs; monitor compliance with policies.
  • Design and/or review engineering designs and cost estimates for environmental equipment/systems; determine engineering specifications and equipment as required.
  • Identify and investigate environmental problems to determine cause and contributory circumstances; initiate steps to prevent recurrences; provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Keep abreast of environmental legislation and regulatory actions; assess impact and ensure appropriate company response and obtain permits.
  • Develop environmental information, manuals, training material and programs; inform employees of related policies and procedures; conduct training sessions.
