The Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager is responsible for driving compliance with OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM), EPA’s Risk Management Program (RMP), and other Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations. The EHS Manager will ensure regulatory compliance, implementation of best practices, and continuous improvement of these critical safety programs. Additionally, this role will focus on fostering cross-functional collaboration and developing a strong behavioral-based safety culture.
Key Responsibility:
- Ensure company compliance with all applicable EHS Regulations.
- Take a lead role in PSM/RMP compliance and continuous improvement at the site.
- Practice transparent compliance by utilizing EHS walk-throughs, hazard identification and behavioral based safety observations, corrective action logs, and risk assessments.
- Champion efforts to audit physical conditions and safe work practices and researching standards, regulations, etc.
- Ensure timely completion of PSM-related training, including Operator Training, Contractor Safety Training, and Mechanical Integrity Training.
- Implement, educate and maintain policies, practices, and programs associated with all phases of occupational safety, health, accident prevention, and environmental compliance.
- Lead and investigate employee near miss, corrective action, incident investigation, root cause discovery and reporting efforts. Ensure cross communication with sister sites.
- Manage proper documentation of completion for PSM/RMP PHA recommendations, compliance audit findings, and incident investigation corrective actions.
- Recommend, develop, implement and create programs in order to reduce work related incidents or injuries with emphasis on prevention efforts geared toward near miss reporting, zero incident-injury goals and risk mitigation efforts.
- Manage EH&S training programs including but not limited to Emergency Action and Fire Prevention, Hazard Communication, GHS, Process Safety Management, Lockout/Tagout, Proper Storage and Disposal of Hazardous/Non Hazardous Waste.
- Oversee the development and execution of Process Safety Information (PSI) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
- Gather and interpret data needed to provide on time delivery of annual EH&S state and federal reporting.
- Provide timely new product/process safety reviews via the Workflow System and actively participate in Management of Change efforts.
- Create strong and effective Hazardous Waste Operations/Spill Response Team. Serve as site's Incident Commander.
- Facilitate an EHS Committee(s) that will aid in a strong and sustainable safety culture.
- Maintain regular communication with the Director of EHS and Corporate PSM/RMP Manager through scheduled check-ins, email updates, and collaboration on key initiatives to ensure alignment on safety and compliance priorities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree with focus in safety, environmental science or health, chemistry, engineering or other related field.
- Minimum of 5 years related experience in the EHS capacity in an industrial environment preferably within process manufacturing, petrochemical or chemical manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead PSM/RMP initiatives and drive change in process safety.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to collaborate across departments and engage employees in a proactive safety culture.
