TimberHP by GO Lab is seeking a passionate and proactive Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to lead the charge in cultivating a strong, positive safety culture across our organization. Requirements:

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  1. Evaluate and update existing safety policies to ensure continued effectiveness
  2. Partner with human resources to develop workplace safety recognition programs as well as company-wide safety and wellness initiatives
  3. Manage health and safety training programs for all levels of operation - New Hire Orientation, Forklift, First Aid/CPR, AED and BBP, Fall Protection, LOTO, Emergency Planning, and more
  4. Lead accident investigation, ensure proper reporting, documentation, and policy updates as well as safety inspections
  5. Assist in the development of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) programs and recommend such equipment as necessary to meet the needs of the department
  6. Work with property and casualty insurance providers to reduce risk through loss mitigation
  7. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and best practices
  8. Monitor compliance with the organization's health and safety policies and procedures and formally advise managers on areas of non-compliance
  9. Maintain and implement inspection policies and procedures, as well as a schedule of routine inspections for safety requirements
  10. Develop and maintain all required OSHA written management processes to include recordkeeping requirements per local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA 300 logs
  11. Implement company-wide accident prevention and injury reporting process
  12. Ensure that all accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in accordance with the organization's policies
  13. Partner with human resources on accident investigations and any corrective actions
  14. Liaise with key external groups and individuals, such as local authorities and specialist groups on health and safety issues (MEMIC, local fire department, law enforcement, etc.)
  15. Ensure procedures are in place to meet all facility-related legal and regulatory obligations - including security, fire safety, structural integrity, and accessibility - with currently available resources
  16. Responsible for ensuring necessary employee annual baseline testing is completed, such as hearing tests, PPE physicals
  17. Encourage and facilitate Team Member input to drive continuous improvement
  18. Manage mill security contractor and activities
  19. Manage fleet safety
  20. Ensure effective and consistent quarterly safety meetings
  21. Assist with execution of environmental compliance programs (air license, water permit, SPCC, stormwater, universal waste, municipal waste treatment plant, etc.)
  22. Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications/Required Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental, worker health, and safety regulations and policies
  • Manufacturing/production or construction experience
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly related to Team Member training
  • Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to interpret policies and practices regarding EH&S impacting the organization
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain it
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field such as engineering or industrial hygiene
  • Five years of relevant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 660 regulations
