The Assistant Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring maximum safety performance and awareness across the company through the development, implementation, and administration of the corporate safety, health, and environmental program. Works closely with all management levels to analyze safety trends and facilitates continuous safety improvements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads a team of Environmental Health & Safety Specialists/Technicians across various sites.
- Analyzes safety trends companywide and collaborates with management to improve safety performance.
- Oversees compliance with federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental laws, including all aspects of the Corporate Safety, Health, and Environmental Program and Site Health and Safety Plans (HASP).
- Ensures all operations and policies comply with applicable regulations and contractual requirements.
- Collaborates with project teams to implement safety procedures and address compliance among employees, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Conducts site visits and participates in planning meetings.
- Leads the CS Energy monthly safety committee meeting.
- Coaches project teams on proper safety behaviors and provides technical support during planning and execution.
- Implements project training and medical surveillance programs as required.
- Maintains all project documentation onsite, such as reports, audits, and safety records.
- Coordinates with insurance providers, OSHA, and clients on inspections and safety issues.
- Works with occupational physicians on employee injuries and documentation until full recovery.
- Assists in understanding and collecting data for company KPIs.
- Conducts accident/injury investigations and recommends corrective actions.
- Ensures compliance with environmental regulations like SWPPP and SPCC.
- Delivers OSHA, DOT, and EPA required training as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five or more years of relevant safety and health experience in industrial, construction, or environmental fields.
- Proven leadership skills and management experience.
- Certification or pursuit of certifications as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST). Experience in delivering OSHA, DOT, and EPA training.
- Completion of OSHA 500/502 courses for Construction Outreach Trainer.
- Knowledge of Air Monitoring/Sampling and applicable safety standards and regulations.
- Training in various safety protocols including HAZWOPER, Excavation/Trenching, Fall Protection, etc.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong written/verbal skills.

*The salary range for this role is estimated between $85,000 and $97,000, with variations based on experience. Certain roles may be eligible for bonuses.
