Company Overview

Specialized Recruiting Group partners with a well-established manufacturing company in Hillsboro, OR, to find a dedicated Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator. This full-time role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional committed to promoting workplace safety and environmental compliance in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Position Summary

The EHS Coordinator will lead the implementation, training, and enforcement of safety and environmental programs. The role focuses on incident prevention, regulatory compliance, and fostering a safety culture across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Safety & Risk Management: Conduct safety inspections, assess risks, and implement corrective actions.
• Incident Response: Manage workers’ compensation claims and modified duty programs with insurers.
• Training & Education: Develop and deliver safety training aligned with OSHA guidelines.
• Emergency Preparedness: Lead emergency response procedures for chemical spills, fires, and disasters.
• Hazardous Materials: Oversee handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Compliance & Reporting: Maintain permits and submit regulatory reports for hazardous waste and environmental programs.
• Fire Safety: Monitor fire protection systems.
• Safety Committee Oversight: Lead meetings, inspections, and facility walkthroughs.
• Health Monitoring: Coordinate respiratory testing and first aid training.
• MSDS Management: Keep safety data sheets current and accessible.
• Incident Analysis: Review incident trends and recommend preventive measures.
• Environmental Monitoring: Develop pollution prevention and environmental quality programs.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Serve as backup for drug screening.
• Coordinate repairs for fire/burglar alarms and phones.
• Manage Safety Bingo Program.
• Support HR functions as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing Safety, or related field preferred.
• 1–2 years safety experience in manufacturing preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to research regulations, conduct training, and provide recommendations.
• Forklift certification and experience with electric sit-down forklifts preferred.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Frequent movement throughout the facility.
• Occasional lifting up to 60 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 400 lbs with equipment.
• Use of machinery, stairs/ladders, and visual inspections.
• Potential exposure to loud environments, chemicals, dust, and confined spaces.
