Job summary

Lorain County Public Health is seeking an experienced Environmental Health leader to guide program excellence and champion continuous quality improvement. This role oversees Environmental Health programs under the Director, interprets regulations, and contributes to budgeting and policy development.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, REHS registration, and at least three years of REHS experience in food safety, with a focus on leadership and program management.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of environmental health programs and public health standards defined by laws and regulations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Food Safety Program and ensure minimum standards are met.
• Develop and maintain electronic program tracking systems.
• Supervise licensing, permitting, and state certification transmissions.
• Draft written SOPs for all programs to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Review staff field work for content and quality with the Director/Supervisor.
• Manage agency website content to ensure programs and applications are accessible online.
• Train and mentor employees, including seasonal interns.
• Collaborate with Director on program development and procedures.
• Provide regular reports on environmental programs to the Supervisor.
• Engage with public officials and groups to promote environmental health programs.
