Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Job Description

This position is responsible for supporting and maintaining the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs, activities, and control measures at the site. It involves coordinating efforts with various compliance programs to ensure the protection of personnel and physical assets, and ensuring compliance with all applicable occupational health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.

This position requires interaction with employees and access to confidential information, necessitating a criminal history review to safeguard the company's operations and reputation.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs to reduce occupational injuries, illnesses, and property losses.
  • Integrate risk and loss controls into daily operations.
  • Support employee-led safety committees.
  • Maintain incident management and safety observation systems.
  • Analyze incident data and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental laws.
  • Lead all site EHS training initiatives.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through proactive engagement with employees.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Legal authorization to work in the country without sponsorship.
  • Associate’s degree or two years of relevant work experience in EHS.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Formal training or at least one year of experience applying continuous improvement tools like Six Sigma, Lean, etc.
  • Experience working in manufacturing or distribution settings.
  • Experience managing industrial safety standards, including respirator and lifting safety.
  • Experience in EHS or completion of a Sherwin-Williams Development Program in EHS.
  • Experience using safety management systems and conducting training.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in EHS, Engineering, or Business.
