Position: EHS Manager

The EHS Manager provides leadership, direction, education, and overall management of the site’s Environmental, Safety, and Industrial Hygiene Programs. This role serves as the technical expert on EHS matters, offering regulatory guidance to the site, staff, and senior management. The manager leads key EHS initiatives, contributes to the plant EHS budget and risk management practices, and ensures programs and systems are in place to achieve top safety performance metrics. Maintaining positive relationships with regulatory agencies (EPA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and outside auditors is also essential.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Leading programs to promote a culture of zero harm to people, the environment, and the community.
  2. Acting as the primary contact with regulatory agencies, consultants, and auditors.
  3. Facilitating safety communication and awareness across the site.
  4. Managing safety/health committee meetings and ensuring effective action items.
  5. Developing and maintaining inspection and audit programs.
  6. Leading emergency and contingency plans, assigning roles, and ensuring compliance with standards.
  7. Developing safety rules and training programs, including orientation and ongoing training.
  8. Managing PPE assessments and hazard controls.
  9. Investigating accidents, compiling reports, and ensuring corrective actions.
  10. Supporting environmental compliance through permit management and reporting.
  11. Leading industrial hygiene activities, including air and noise monitoring.
  12. Providing guidance on environmental compliance areas such as stormwater, hazardous waste, and air permits.
  13. Collaborating on engineering and maintenance projects related to EHS.
  14. Managing contractor safety programs and ensuring adherence to guidelines.
  15. Identifying safety improvements and implementing initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of manufacturing industry experience in EHS.
  • Proven leadership and influence skills.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in incident investigation and safety training facilitation.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with AutoCAD and EHS management systems is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel domestically (<25%).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as ASP, CSP, CHMM, or CIH are a plus.
  • Experience with database management systems, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams is preferred.
