Environmental Health and Safety Manager
The company is seeking a qualified individual to fill a full-time position as an Environmental Health and Safety Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and documenting safety, health, and environmental policies across the company. This role ensures compliance with local, state, federal, and international laws and regulations related to safety, health, and the environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain awareness of environmental hazards and ensure company-wide compliance.
- Support and participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Manage accident/incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Serve as a lead auditor and designated person ashore.
- Document training to meet OSHA and USCG/ABS regulations, ensuring compliance with governmental agencies and company policies.
- Provide training and leadership on safety regulations and practices to managers, supervisors, and team members.
- Review equipment purchases to ensure safety safeguards and compliance with OSHA and other agencies.
- Assess risks and hazards to promote a safe and healthy workplace environment.
- Possess knowledge of safety systems and marine operations.
- Organize and complete permits related to health and safety, such as environmental, fire safety, and operating permits.
- Oversee the company's global EH&S and Risk Management programs and policies.
- Manage change systems related to safety and environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or related field, with at least five years of experience.
- Possession or ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card.
- Possession or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.
- Preferred: CET/CSP certification.
- Good knowledge of EPA, OSHA, NYS DEC, USCG, SOLAS, ABS, and IMO regulations.
- Knowledge of safety issues and hazards in the marine industry.
- Experience with offshore wind projects is a plus.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED trainer certification.
- OSHA 10hr/30hr, Maritime, and Hazwoper Trainer certifications.
- Strong communication skills, outgoing personality, and ability to interact at all levels.
- Experience in incident investigation and documentation.
- Leadership skills with the ability to influence senior management.
- Proficiency in computer skills including email, internet, Access, Word, and Excel.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, rotate, and reach frequently.
- Ability to lift and carry at least 25 lbs.
- Ability to ascend/descend stairs or ladders safely.
- Ability to manipulate materials and navigate confined spaces on vessels.
- Capability to perform emergency duties onboard vessels.
