Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Position Summary

Greendale is one of Catalent’s gummy technology development and manufacturing facilities in North America. The Environmental Health and Safety Manager has responsibility for all Environmental Health Safety & Security activities for the Greendale site. This involves developing and implementing site-wide health, safety, environmental, and security programs designed to respond to potential situations and to enhance site overall business continuity and site safety. The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations following Catalent guidelines to guarantee the safety of all employees, visitors, and contractors in the facility.

The Role

  • Take action/steps to identify, assess and recommend control measures or corrective action(s) for environmental, health and safety concerns.

  • Lead all safety initiatives for the site in order maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

  • Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments that apply to tasks, departments, and the overall site.

  • Lead and maintain visibility of the safety program and open lines of communications with all employees regarding safety.

  • Conduct EHS audits, inspections, hazard assessments and investigations as required and make recommendations based off findings.

  • Lead incident and accident investigations assuring corrective actions are taken to minimize or prevent similar future incidents.

  • Responsible for current knowledge of local, state and federal regulations including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, NFPA, RCRA, ANSI, FDA, GMP, etc.

  • Maintain recordkeeping per OSHA requirements for accidents and injuries.

  • Manage the Workers Compensation program, monitor treatment for appropriateness, monitor fees, track injuries, and provide metrics to management.

  • Other duties assigned.

The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or other Environmental Engineering or science related field required.

  • 3+ years EHS experience in a manufacturing setting required.

  • 3+ years of appropriate experience in a food, beverage, dietary supplement industry required.

  • AutoCad and Siemen's software experience preferred.

  • Management experience preferred.

  • Must be computer literate.

  • Must complete projects with minimum supervision and have good interpersonal skills and leadership characteristics.

  • Strong analytical/problem solving/process improvement skills.

  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.

  • Infrequent lifting overhead reaching less than or equal to 15 lbs. with the ability to potentially lift up to 35 lbs and push/pull 40 lbs.

  • Individual may be required to sit for extended periods. Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen frequently.
