Job Overview
Maintain and promote a strong safety culture with proper procedures and EHS regulations. In addition, identify and communicate workplace hazards, unsafe actions, and unfavorable working conditions.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage all safety related products established by Corporate Policies, work with outside vendors to place orders, and ensure that all employees are provided with approved PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and use it consistently.
- Assist in the Investigation of all incidents / injuries, led by Operational Leadership, to determine root cause, and follow-up on all corrective actions to verify sustainability/ accountability
- Lead and assist in site-specific safety auditing as recommended by the Regional Manager
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations and corporate safety program.
- Train employees and managers on all safety, environmental, and emergency action related corporate policies and procedures on a scheduled basis, and keep detailed training records as required by OSHA, State and Local agencies
- Coordinate delivery of environmental data from site to environmental consultant for completion of required regulatory reports
- Work with Regional Manager to modify corporate policies and procedures for site-specific accuracy
- Manage all occupational/non work illness related incidents
- Develop a Behavioral-Based Safety program.
- Other duties, as assigned by leadership.
Education – Experience Required
- Must be capable of standing for entire shift and sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., ability to demonstrate full range of motion for reaching, bending, kneeling, and stooping.
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold depending on the weather.
- Subject to dirt, dust, oil, welding fumes, electric shock, bright lights, UV radiation, burns, traffic hazards, and high noise levels in the workplace.
- College degree or certification in Safety (General Industry) or Environmental preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in a related field may substitute for a degree or certification. General knowledge of OSHA regulations, or willingness to learn required.
- Extensive data collection and reporting will require minimum intermediate level experience with MS Word and MS Excel.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with employees and managers to successfully implement and monitor the corporate EH&S programs as directed by the Regional EH&S manager. Train employees and managers on corporate safety and environmental policies and procedures through clear and consistent communication. One-on-one work with ALL employees will be necessary.
