Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection seeks an Environmental Group Manager to lead a team of engineers reviewing permit applications that protect waterways and wetlands. You will oversee regulatory work, guide permitting decisions, and coordinate enforcement and interagency actions to ensure safe development and responsible environmental practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or closely related field.
• Professional Engineer license issued by PA Board required.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training may apply.

Responsibilities

• Oversee permitting activities for stormwater and encroachment programs and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Assign permit applications to reviewers and balance workloads across the section.
• Examine staff work and drafted permits for accuracy and proper application of laws.
• Train employees, lead meetings, provide guidance, and perform supervisory responsibilities.
• Coordinate with enforcement actions, emergency reviews, and interagency meetings related to permitting.
• Prepare monthly activity updates, evaluate workload data, and maintain organized procedures.

Education

Bachelor's degree in biological/physical/environmental sciences or engineering

Professional Engineer license (PA)
