Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Environmental Protection, seeks an Environmental Engineering Specialist to safeguard water quality across the Commonwealth. Qualifications

  • Two years of professional environmental engineering experience with an EIT or similar credential.
  • One year of environmental engineering experience with a PE license.
  • Completion of Environmental Engineering Trainee training program.
  • One year of experience with a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or related field.
  • Graduate study may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate industrial wastewater discharge applications and set discharge limits per water quality standards.
  • Assess NPDES permit submissions to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct on-site facility inspections to verify permit adherence.
  • Analyze wastewater treatment designs and recommend actions for permits.
  • Meet with stakeholders to address questions related to permitting activities.
  • Enter and maintain required information in electronic databases.
