Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking an Environmental Group Manager in the Northeast Regional Office, Waterways and Wetlands. The role supervises engineers reviewing permit applications to protect waterways and wetlands, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and effective decision-making.

The position offers full-time civil service status with a standard 7:00 AM–3:00 PM schedule, potential telework up to 3 days weekly, and statewide travel to several PA offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or related field.
• Five years of professional environmental protection experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Valid driver's license.
• Professional Engineer license (PA).

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Permitting Section by managing engineering staff and reviewing technical work.
• Assign permit applications and balance workloads.
• Examine staff work and drafted permits for accuracy and consistency.
• Train employees, lead meetings, and provide supervision.
• Coordinate regulatory actions and interagency meetings.
• Prepare monthly activity updates and maintain office procedures.
