Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) is seeking a SANITATION AND SAFETY SPECIALIST to conduct regulatory inspections of food establishments, ensuring compliance with Chapter 500 and related rules. The position includes preparing reports, advising on corrective actions, and coordinating with federal partners where applicable.

The role requires a high school diploma (or a bachelor’s degree for substitution of experience) and a valid driver license, with occasional travel

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 1 year of professional work experience, or a bachelor’s degree can substitute for the experience.
• Requires a valid Class E driver license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regulatory inspections of food establishments to ensure compliance with Florida statutes and codes.
• Prepare and document inspection findings and recommend corrective actions.
• Initiate enforcement actions such as stop sale/stop use orders when indicated by findings.
• Travel as needed and participate in emergency/disaster responses as required.
