Job summary

SGS is seeking an Environmental Field Services Team Leader to oversee sampling operations across NY, NJ, PA and DE. You will lead a team of Environmental Field Technicians while remaining actively involved in field sampling, customer engagement, project coordination, and operational excellence.

This player-coach role emphasizes hands-on field work, safety culture, GLP/SOP adherence, and delivering high-quality client service across multiple sites and environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental sampling of groundwater, drinking water, soil, air and emissions.
• Proven ability to lead field personnel and coordinate multiple projects.
• Commitment to safety, quality documentation and sample integrity.

Responsibilities

• Perform environmental sampling and field measurements at landfills, remediation sites, industrial facilities, and vessels in port.
• Coordinate daily field activities, schedules and resources for a team of Field Technicians.
• Interface directly with clients to ensure exceptional service and project execution.
• Maintain chain-of-custody documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture with zero compromise on safe work practices.
