Job summary

SCS Engineers, headquartered in Long Beach, CA, is seeking a Technician to support scientists and engineers across multiple tasks. The role blends administrative duties with hands-on field support, including environmental sampling and equipment maintenance.

Field work is possible, with the primary base at the Long Beach Headquarters when not in the field. You will report to Administrative Coordinators/Facilities Managers and assist project managers across the company.

Qualifications

• Experience with vehicle maintenance is required or strongly preferred.
• Experience with field equipment maintenance is required or strongly preferred.
• Health and Safety experience is preferred.
• Experience with environmental fieldwork such as sampling groundwater and gas probes is preferred.
• Experience with mechanical systems and/or construction is preferred.
• Completion of a 40-hour HAZWOPER training is required or willing to complete.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage fleet vehicles: schedule routine maintenance, coordinate with mechanics, transport to dealership, wash and handle smog checks.
• Manage health and safety supplies: ordering, stocking, PPE bags, shipping PPE to new hires.
• Maintain fire extinguishers and assist with office tasks as needed.
• Support field activities: sampling, monitoring, O&M of pumps, field logs and lab sample transfer.
• Calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot field equipment; arrange repairs as needed.
• Travel locally and overnight as required.
