Job summary

SGS is seeking an Environmental Field Services Team Leader to supervises field sampling operations across NY, NJ, PA, and DE. This player-coach role combines hands-on sampling with team leadership, client interaction, and project coordination to deliver high-quality environmental services at industrial sites and ports.

You will oversee field technicians, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive safety and operational excellence while traveling regionally and supporting multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
• 3+ years environmental field sampling experience.
• Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in industrial, marine, and outdoor environments.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the region.

Responsibilities

• Perform environmental sampling and field measurements at a variety of sites, including landfills, Superfund/remediation sites, industrial facilities, and vessels in port
• Coordinate the daily field activities, schedules, and resources of a team of Field Technicians
• Interface directly with clients to ensure exceptional service and project execution
• Maintain accurate field records, chain-of-custody documentation, and regulatory compliance
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture with zero compromise on safe work practices
