Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) offers internship and co-op opportunities for high-performing college students in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science. Interns work alongside experienced professionals across Environmental, HES&S, and midstream areas, gaining practical, hands-on experience.

Position is on-site in Findlay, OH, with additional locations including Dickinson, ND, and others. Authorized work status in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
• Concurrent enrollment for the duration of the internship.
• Strong academic performance.
• Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
• Must have a valid driver's license for work-related travel.
• Must provide reliable transportation to and from work.
• Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
• Available for multiple work terms is preferred.
• MIN - $24.09 per hour / MAX - $43.23 per hour

Responsibilities

• Interpret and/or develop Company environmental policies and guidelines; and develop methods and procedures for implementing and assuring conformance.
• Provide guidance and technical assistance in organizing and establishing programs and procedures to implement and administer requirements, including budget inputs; and monitor compliance with these policies in assigned areas and direct related reports and recommendations to appropriate personnel.
• Design and/or review engineering designs and cost estimates for environmental equipment/systems; and/or determine engineering specifications and recommend equipment, as required.
• Identify and investigate current and developing environmental problems or issues to determine cause and contributory circumstances; initiate steps to prevent recurrences; and provide recommendations with appropriate personnel as well as communicating to senior management.
• Keep abreast of environmental legislation, regulatory agency actions, and international standards as well as related technological and administrative developments; develop/assist with legislative and regulatory impact assessment to ensure an appropriate response by the Company to governmental proposals; submit required reports; and obtain various permits as required.
• Develop environmental information, manuals, training material and programs; inform employees of related policies and procedures; and conduct appropriate training sessions.
