Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) offers internship and co‑op opportunities for high‑performing college students in Environmental fields. Interns work alongside experienced professionals in areas including Refining, Midstream Crude Oil & Products Logistics, and Natural Gas Services, with training in HES&S topics.

On-site roles involve 40 hours/week; candidates must be pursuing a related Bachelor's degree and have strong academic records.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
  • Concurrent enrollment for the duration of the internship experience.
  • Strong academic performance.
  • Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
  • Must have a valid driver's license for work-related travel.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Available for multiple work terms preferred.
  • MIN - $24.09 per hour / MAX - $43.23 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and/or develop Company environmental policies and guidelines; develop methods and procedures for implementing and assuring conformance.
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance in organizing and establishing programs and procedures to implement and administer requirements, including budget inputs; monitor compliance with these policies.
  • Design and/or review engineering designs and cost estimates for environmental equipment/systems; determine engineering specifications and recommend equipment as required.
  • Identify and investigate current and developing environmental problems or issues to determine cause and contributory circumstances; initiate steps to prevent recurrences; provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Keep abreast of environmental legislation, regulatory agency actions, and international standards; assist with impact assessment and permit acquisition.
